Talus Shiraz

Mount Langi Ghiran Talus Shiraz's vineyard sits in the arms of its namesake, the 400 million year old granite massif Mount Langi Ghiran. 'Talus' is the name geologists give to rocks that fall to the base of a cliff.

Most of the fruit is sourced from the Old Block planted in the 1960s in soils of sedimentary red clay loam permeated with granite sands. The balance is from younger vines planted between 1994 and 2005.

The Shiraz vine originated in the Rhône Valley in France, where over the centuries it developed a natural affinity for the Rhône's granite soils.

The grapes are open fermented with hand plunging. A portion is whole bunch fermented, including some foot treading. The wine then matures for 18 months in a quarter new French oak barrels.

Vibrant crimson, Mount Langi Ghiran Talus Shiraz is a balance of power and poise. It has pure fruit flavours, distinct minerality and supple silky tannins. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
